Firstly, as you might have guessed from the picture above, we recently had a lunar eclipse that is the last this year. Technically the millenium ends at the end of next year (2000) so it would be inaccurate to describe it as the last for this century. However it is significant in it's own right.
The eclipse peaked at about 9:25pm (Melbourne, Australia) when the Moon was in about 3/4 shadow. I only remembered to take the photo ten minutes later. Just as well I'm not an astronomer!
